Baywood Tennis Academy

Tennis 101
January 13, 2024

We have some really exciting news to share with you.  Some of you may know that it has been a long term ambition for us at Baywood Racquet Club to create an academy for junior players.

We are now very pleased and proud to announce the launch of the Baywood Tennis Academy.

We have created this Academy to provide a pathway for development of existing junior tennis players and to attract new young players to the sport. Our Academy will give young players the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of being involved in tennis for the long term, both as social players and performance players – either to compete in Baywood Tennis Academy teams and/or as individual players.

Having led successful junior tennis programs prior to joining Baywood, our new Head Coach, Thomas Hall, will lead this Academy, which is carefully and thoughtfully aligned with the USTA and its requirements, including ensuring all staff involved are “Safe Play” certified.  To understand the ‘Safe Play” initiative you can watch a video here:

USTA SAFE PLAY

Aligning the Academy with the USTA is very important, as it allows for players in Greenville and the surrounding areas to participate and develop in a structured program that reflects all USTA endorsed programs and standards. Every class in our Academy is based around a 1:6 coach to student ratio, ensuring quality instruction in an age and level appropriate environment. Smaller groups mean more individual attention and a pathway that allows players to move through different levels as they improve.

Our philosophy is to give each student the opportunity to become the best player he/she can be by giving them the proper foundation to grow their skills. Our Academy’s Head Coach, Thomas Hall, will provide a learning atmosphere to help students develop the physical, mental, tactical and strategic components of tennis.  The Academy is committed to providing opportunities to play outside of coaching activities, this includes USTA Junior League Teams, hosting USTA tournaments and match play practice sessions.

Please read our Academy guide for more information on our philosophy and objectives, which you can download here:

BAYWOOD TENNIS ACADEMY PARENT SUPPORT GUIDE

To celebrate the launch of the Baywood Tennis Academy, we are taking an unprecedented step of making our Academy completely free for 4 weeks. Starting Monday, January 15, 2024, through Friday, February 9, 2024, we are opening our doors to everyone in Greenville and surrounding areas to check our Academy out, meet Coach Thomas Hall and start their Baywood Tennis Academy pathway.

We are asking all our members to speak with family, friends, neighbours who have children, who would potentially like to try up to 4 weeks of free tennis training at the Baywood Tennis Academy, to get in touch and register their interest through the button at the foot of this email.

The Academy offers the following classes (please consult the Parent Support Guide for more information on the levels and age ranges) at multiple times throughout the week:
