Celebrate National Tennis Month This May with the USTA!

Every May, tennis players across the country lace up their sneakers, grab their racquets, and hit the courts to celebrate National Tennis Month, a USTA initiative designed to grow the game and bring new energy to the sport we all love.

National Tennis Month is about more than just matches and tournaments — it’s a full-on celebration of everything tennis brings to our lives: fitness, friendship, competition, and community. Whether you’re a seasoned player, someone returning to the game, or picking up a racquet for the very first time, May is the perfect time to get involved.

What is National Tennis Month?

Launched by the United States Tennis Association (USTA), National Tennis Month shines a spotlight on tennis at every level — from local parks to premier tennis clubs. The goal is to make tennis more accessible and welcoming to everyone, no matter your age, background, or skill level. Throughout May, communities around the U.S. host events like:

  • Free Tennis Clinics and Try Tennis Days
  • Youth Tennis Festivals
  • Adult Social Play Events
  • Beginner Lessons and Cardio Tennis Sessions
  • USTA League Promotions and Tournaments

These events are designed to make it easy — and fun — to get on court, meet new people, and discover (or rediscover) a lifelong passion for the game.

Why Celebrate Tennis?

Tennis is one of the healthiest sports you can play at any age. Studies show that tennis players live longer, experience less stress, and enjoy improved mental and physical health compared to those who don’t play. Plus, it’s a sport you can enjoy socially or competitively, solo or with a team, and indoors or outdoors.

National Tennis Month reminds us that tennis is truly a sport for life.

How to Get Involved

No matter where you live, there are tons of ways to celebrate:

  • Find a Local Event: Visit usta.com/nationaltennismonth to discover events near you.
  • Introduce a Friend to Tennis: Invite a buddy who’s never played to join you for a casual hit or a beginner class.
  • Share Your Tennis Story: Use the hashtag #NationalTennisMonth to share your tennis journey, photos, and memories on social media.
  • Volunteer: Help organize or assist with local tennis events.
  • Join a Program: Whether it’s adult beginner clinics, youth programs, or USTA leagues, May is a great time to sign up.

Final Serve

This May, let’s celebrate what makes tennis so special. Get outside, get active, and share the love of the game with your community. Whether you’re chasing your first rally or your next championship point, there’s a place for you in the world of tennis.

Happy National Tennis Month! 🎾
