Baywood Racquet Club Welcomes Head Tennis Coach Thomas Hall to Greenville
Dear Members,
With the new year will come a brand-new junior development and academy program at Baywood Racquet Club. The management team is excited to announce Thomas Hall as the new Head Tennis Coach at Baywood. He will be responsible for developing a comprehensive USTA backed pathway for junior players in Eastern North Carolina and providing lessons and clinics to the wider membership. Thomas will bring energy and new ways of learning to Baywood Racquet Club that all members, both junior and adult, will benefit from.
“I am looking forward to meeting everybody at Baywood Racquet Club, starting my journey with the membership and sharing my tennis experience. My family and I are excited to become a part of this great tennis community.“
Thomas Hall
A Richmond, VA native, Thomas is a passionate player who instantly fell in love with the sport when he first picked up a racquet. He worked after school to afford private lessons in order to better his play. This dedication to developing his game allowed him to play at the collegiate level before completing his academic studies.
At the University of Memphis, Thomas was an assistant professional at Tennis Memphis under Steve Smith, the developer of Great Base Tennis. It was here that Thomas developed his own style as a technical coach. Working with Steve, Thomas developed many young players, including six, who are now nationally ranked in the top 100 players in their age division. This includes one junior, who is currently the #3 nationally ranked player in the girls’ 14-year-old age division.
Thomas left Memphis to return to his family in Virginia. There he joined the Hunting Hills Country Club coaching team where he built a successful junior program from the ground up, turning it into the best program in the area, capturing three junior L6 titles, a high school state championship and one regional junior team tennis title. Simultaneously, he built a roster of supportive clients that became like family to him over the years.
Once again, he returned to Tennessee, where he rejoined Tennis Memphis as a director of his own facility with a community outreach mission and worked to develop junior programs in underprivileged areas of the city.
Today, Thomas brings his experience and enthusiasm to the Baywood Racquet Club family, where he will support our adult programs and teams, in addition to creating a new junior development tennis program and academy, making Baywood a tennis hub in the state of North Carolina as well as the Mid-Atlantic region.
Thomas, 29, and his wife Victoria, 27, are excited to relocate to Winterville, NC, with their nine-month-old son, Benjamin. In addition to tennis, they enjoy hiking, being outdoors, watching The Office, checking out local breweries and cheering on the Panthers. Please stop by and say hello when you’re at the Club.
Please join us in welcoming Thomas to our Club. We will be sharing more information regarding Thomas’ arrival and the timing of opening his diary for lessons and clinic bookings in a couple of weeks.
