28th November 2023

Hi everyone,

We hope you are enjoying the run up to the holidays. As we look back at 2023, the club has been thriving, we had many members involved in teams, lessons, clinics, and club events.  The men’s quads have been a sell out and we hope to launch a women’s quad in 2024.  Al has introduced shot of the day which is well attended and thank you to all that have attended our ‘last Friday of the month Margarita mixers.  Look out for our 2024 social calendar that will go live early in 2024 as well.

We are striving to ensure all members can maximise play, there is a growing social environment, and coaching and clinics are available for all to improve. As you know we continue to invest heavily in the club, opening up Baywood East in January (with 4 courts + indoor for lessons) and resurfacing all of the courts this past March.  You will continue to see us invest in 2024, and always open to understanding where you think our priorities should be!

We have a couple announcements that we would like to share. First, Robert Warren is leaving the club effective this week.  We would like to thank Robert for 9 years of great service to Baywood Racquet Club.  For the last several months, we have been in the process of significantly upgrading our youth programming, and the find the skill level required to deliver even better junior program going forward. We are in the final discussions with a short list of very promising candidates and will make that announcement separately as soon as it is finalized. We are very excited about the direction this is moving in to provide young people in Greenville with a first-class tennis program.  The Baywood Racquet Club, Junior program will have a completely different look and feel with clear goals and objectives for all who participate.

In the meantime, we are thrilled to announce that Kirsten Burgess, the ECU Division 1 women’s coach (and prior club manager here at Baywood) will be coming back part time during December and January and will be available for lessons, clinics and will be delivering some of our youth (u10) programs as well as Middles School clinics. If you see Kirstin, pls say hi!  This is a great opportunity for our junior players to benefit from Kirstin’s experience and knowledge of the competitive game.  In addition, Al Smith will be taking the High School clinics until our new program is launched in early 2024.

As always, we would like to hear from you if there is anything at all we can do to improve the experience you have at Baywood Racquet Club.

Thanks for reading,

The Baywood Team
